passed away Monday, January 2, 2006
at his home.  He was born September
10, 1912 to Louis Vail and Lydia Faulk
Vail in Crowley, Louisiana.  He is
survived by his wife, Essie Mae Vail,
son Jimmy Vail, daughters Diana
Durand and husband Donald and
Brenda McCreary and husband Reed,
sister Ruby Sanifer of Beaumont,
Texas; 5 grandchildren and 10
great-grandchildren. Visitation:

Helen Marie Stegint, 88, of Hempstead,
Texas passed away Friday, February
03, 2006 in Rosenberg.  She was born
May 4, 1917 to Albert Budnick and
Mary Wisniewski Budnick in Brenham,
Texas.  She is survived by her sons
Joseph Stegint with wife Elizabeth and
David Stegint, daughter Shirley Acock
with husband Melvin, brother Steve
Budnick , 7 grandchildren and 12
great-grandchildren.  Rosary:  Sunday,

Millard Harley Gray, 91, of Hempstead,
Texas passed away Friday, January
13, 2006 at the College Station
Medical Center.  He was born July 25,
1914 in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Barry
Dayton Gray and Edna Shannon
Gray.  He is survived by his wife Lelia
Mae Gray, son Millard Gray, Jr. and
wife Cynthia; daughters Linda Bennett
and husband Tom, Mary Ann Oliver
and husband Bill; and six
grandchildren.  Graveside services  
held at Houston National Cemetery

Lamar Andrew Haffelfinger, 62, of
Hempstead, Texas passed away
Saturday, February 25, 2006 in
Houston.  He was born October 3,
1943 in Baytown, Texas to Lamar
Haffelfinger, Sr. and Irene Scheurich
Haffelfinger.  He is survived by his
father Lamar Haffelfinger, Sr., brother
Ricky Haffelfinger and sisters Kay
Langford and Sherrill Angelle.

Friday, March 24, 2006 at his home.  
He was born October 10, 1944 in
Baytown, Texas to Lamar A.
Haffelfinger, Sr. and Dora Irene
Scheurich Haffelfinger.  He is survived
by his father, Lamar Haffelfinger, Sr.
and wife Leola,  daughter Dana
Haffelfinger, wife Maggie and sisters
Kay Langford and Sherrill Angelle.  A
memorial service is scheduled for
Saturday, April 1, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at
Fieldstore Cemetery with Cecil
Haffelfinger officiating.  Arrangements

CULBERSON
Jewell Poplin Culberson passed away
March 19, 2006 at U.T. M.D. Anderson
Cancer Center.  She was 62.  Jewell
was born in Norwood, North Carolina in
1943, the fourth of five children and
grew up on a farm with her brothers
and sister.  She graduated Norwood
High School and went on to graduate
Kings College in Charlotte, North
Carolina.  Jewell was a devoted and
caring wife, mother and grandmother.  
She is survived by loving husband of
43 years, Al, her son and
daughter-in-law Scott and Kim
Culberson, her daughter Audra
Culberson, and grandchildren Gavin
Culberson and Gillian Culberson.  She
is also survived by her brothers Ned
and wife Louise Poplin of Locust, NC;
Louis and wife Julia Poplin of Norwood,
NC; sister Sue and husband Dr. Henry
McCrory of Terry, MS.  Preceded in
death by brother Dr. Kenneth Poplin,
mother Peggy Poplin Blalock and
father Jack Poplin.  Memorial services
will be held Wednesday, March 22,
2006, 2:00 p.m.; First United Methodist
Church, 7th and Main, Hempstead,
Texas.  In lieu of flowers, please send
