Dwigans
James "Skipper" Leroy Dwigans, age
73, of Hempstead, Texas passed away
on January 15, 2014 following a brief
illness. He was born August 2, 1940 to
James Walter Dwigans, Sr. and Velma
Lucille McCormick Dwigans in Houston,
Texas. As a young man, Jim served in
the Air Force and later became a pilot.
He began his own business, Texas
QMS, providing Quality Management
Services to a variety of small
businesses in the Oil and Gas
Industry. In recent years, his daughter
Nikki has worked by his side, allowing
him more time to spend volunteering
with Meals on Wheels and the House
of Help food pantry. He also enjoyed
spending time with his horses and
dogs. Jim is preceded in death by his
parents and his stepson Capt. Nathan
Jay Nylander. He is survived by his
sons James "Jimmy" Leroy Dwigans,
Jr., and wife Sandy, James Lee
Dwigans, daughters Elizabeth "Liz"
Dwigans Mielke and husband Greg
and  Nikki Jo Dwigans-Kelly, brother
Theodore “Teddy” Dwigans,
grandchildren: Brooke, Brandon, and
Collin Dwigans; Tori, Ali, and Skyler
Shimek; and Tyler, Elisabeth, and
Andru Nylander, and numerous other

DeGaugh

Delores Leola Hancock DeGaugh was
born July 28, 1930 in Dallas, Texas to
be with the Lord January 20, 2014 in
Austin, Texas at the age of 83 years.  
She was a graduate of Hempstead
High School and attended the
University of Texas at Austin. She was
active in the First Baptist Church
Hempstead, a popular soloist in the
church choir with an amazing soprano
voice. She married her high school
sweetheart, Robert Harold DeGaugh of
Hempstead on June 3, 1951. She was
a devoted, loving wife to Robert for 58
Delores Leola Hancock DeGaugh was
years.   Delores was a caring mother
born July 28, 1930 in Dallas, Texas to
of three daughters: Debbie, Nancy and
Adrian and Leola Hancock and went to
Linda.She is survived by: her
daughters Debbie Haedge and Nancy
Stolz of Hempstead, Linda Haedge of
Austin;  8 grandchildren, Jami Aguilar
and husband Chris of Austin, Texas,

Ella Cullins Weaver, 94, of Prairie
View, Texas passed away Friday,
February 21, 2014. She was born
October 26, 1919 in Little Rock,
Arkansas to  John Silas Cullins and

Tolpa
It is with great sadness our family
announces the passing of George
Tolpa at the Tolpa farm on Saturday,
George will be lovingly remembered
and greatly missed by his wife Tina,
sister Julie, father Joseph, sons Tom
and Joe, daughter Tina-Rose, future
son-in-law Brandon McGuire,
grandson George Malone, and
mother-in-law Tina Schwering.  George
was pre-deceased by his mother Rose
and father-in-law Henk Schwering.  
George was born in Toronto, Ontario.  
He married Tina in 1974 after their
time together in university studying
engineering.  He, Tina, and their
children moved to Texas in 1990.  
George enjoyed his career as an
engineer in Houston. George survived
a life threatening motorcycle accident
in 2001 and had since spent his time
at the farm.  He continued his passion
for motorcycles, raccoon hunting, and
showing plot hounds.  He taught
himself to play the guitar, practicing
every day.  His quick wit and sage like
advice will be eternally missed by all.  
The Viewing will be held at McWilliams
Funeral Home on Thursday, June 5,
2014 from 5-7PM.  The funeral service
will be held at St. Katherine Drexel
Roman Catholic Church Friday, June
6, 2014 at 10AM.  After the service the
family and those affected will gather at
the Knights of Columbus hall for lunch
and support during this time of
mourning.

2014 at his home. He was born May
17, 1926 to Antonio Dominguez and

Zacatecas, Mexico. He is survived by

Schaefer
Larry Edward Schaefer, 55, of Hockley,
Texas passed away Wednesday, May
14, 2014 at his home. He was born
November 20, 1958 to Oliver J.
Schaefer and Lorene Higginbotham
Schaefer in Alexandria, Louisiana. He
is survived by his wife Marina
Nungesser Schaefer, mother Lorene
Corder, daughters Amber Schaefer,
Angela Schaefer, and Tarra Neaves,
and four grandchildren. Arrangements

Pieper
Clarence Henry Pieper, 86, of
Hempstead passed away June 7,
2014. Born on February 14, 1928 in
Brenham to Henry Pieper and Katie
Meyer. He enlisted in the Navy as an
aerial reconnaissance photographer
during World War II. After serving his
country he worked at Southwestern
Bell for 30+ years. He married Joan
Lipscomb of Hempstead on November
14, 1954. The couple had three
children and two grandchildren.
Clarence enjoyed bow hunting, fishing,
cooking, watching football, planting
gardens, and spending time with
friends and family. He is preceded in
death by his parents. Clarence is
survived by his wife, Joan; their
children: son, Peter Pieper of
Hempstead; daughter, Tracy and
grandchildren, Lauren and Hayden
Kurie all of Brenham; and his son,
Hunter Pieper and daughter-in-law,
Lauren Pieper of Houston. He is also
survived by his sister, Florence
Hamilton of Austin and nieces, Donna
and Janet. Funeral services will be
held at the Methodist Church in
Hempstead on Wednesday, June 11th
at 11 am. Burial will follow at
Hempstead Cemetery under the

Texas passed away Thursday, June
12, 2014.
He was born August 23, 1947 in
Houston, Texas to James L. and Mary
Couch. He is preceded in death by his
parents and brothers Jimmy and Doug.
A loving husband, Don leaves behind
his wife of 41 years, Linda Seets
Couch. Don was a wonderful Uncle to
many Nieces & Nephews.
He was a Veteran of the United States
Army and Don served his country in
the Viet Nam War.
Following his military service, he
worked his entire career, over 40
years, for Cameron Iron Works/Wyman
loved to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed
watching movies, especially classic
westerns and action movies. He will be
deeply missed by family and friends.

Arrell Foster, Jr., 94, formerly of
Hempstead, Texas passed away
Tuesday, September 9, 2014. He was
born October 14, 1919 to Arrell F.
Foster, Sr. and Viola Wisniski Foster.
He is preceded in death by his wife
Juanita and son Arrell F. Foster, III and
is survived by his son Brian Foster,
daughter in-law Marilyn Foster,
grandchildren Blake, Blair, Jennifer,
and Andy Foster, and five
great-grandchildren. He was a kind
man and devoted Christian who will be
missed by all. Visitation will be held

Foster
Lindsey Ivey Lipscomb, born on July
17, 1921 in Hempstead, Texas passed
away on October 2, 2014.  He had
Dallas to be near his children after the
death of his wife of 42 years, Dolores
Denson Lipscomb.   
He was a decorated POW and veteran
of WWII.  Lieutenant Lipscomb was
both navigator and bombardier in the
34th Bombardment Group in the
Eighth Army Air Corp.  His B-17
bomber was shot down on Nov 23,
1944, Thanksgiving Day, on his thirty-
second mission over Germany.  He
and four other survivors in his crew
were taken prisoner and held at Stalag
Luft I at Barth on the Baltic Sea until
the end of the war.
Following the war, he graduated with
honors from Texas A&M, Class of
1949, and enjoyed a long career as a
civil and petroleum engineer working
with Exxon, Triton Engineering, and
Enron.  His expertise in offshore oil
and gas production led to assignments
all over the world including Texas,
California, Australia, Kuala Lumpur,
Malaysia, Norway, India, England, Italy
and Brazil.  
Lindsey Lipscomb is survived by his
children, Stephen William Lipscomb of
Longmont, Colorado, Joseph Blake
and Helena Mira Lipscomb of Fort
Worth, Texas, and Ivy Lynn and
Robert Michael Opdyke of Dallas,
Texas, his seven grandchildren, and
his ten great grandchildren.
Services will be held on Saturday,
October 11, 2014 at 10:30 am at

He was born June 23, 1953 in

Houston, Texas in 1973. He retired to
Hempstead in 2004 after a 32 year
career at NOV Tuboscope. He
thoroughly enjoyed country living.
