
Lora (Lorrabelle) Anne Wasicek, 80, of Hempstead, Texas passed away Saturday, December 13, 2025. Lora was born on January 19, 1945 to Lawton Ray Sesler and Anna “Peggy” Clemons Sesler in Washington, D.C. and grew up in Maysville, Kentucky as well as Hempstead, Texas. Lora and William John Wasicek, Jr. were married on the 28th of February 1964. They were married just 3 months shy of 50 years at the time of William’s death. Jr. and Lora called Hempstead home for almost 50 years where they raised their son Wesley. Lora was employed by the Waller County Court system for many years and was very proud of her work there. She has had many lifelong friends from her time there. Lora is preceded in death by her parents Lawton Ray Sesler and Anna “Peggy” Clemons Sesler, her husband, William J. Wasicek, Jr., her sons John and Wesley Wasicek, and her brother Jefferson Miles. Lora is survived by her brother, John Ashford Miles, dear friend Robert Chamblin, and numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces.

Wanda Lynette Lenz, 59, formerly of Hempstead, Texas, passed away Thursday, December 11, 2025. She was born October 6, 1966, to Eldon Ray Lenz and Beverly Fae Meinin Lenz in Hempstead, Texas. She is preceded in death by her mother, Beverly Oldham and is survived by her brother Ray Lenz and wife Tiffany, 2 nieces, 1 nephew, and 1 cousin. Norma Ruth Cardenas-Haldeman, age 78, passed away on November 27, 2025, in Dime Box, Texas. A devoted Christian, Norma lived a life marked by kindness, compassion, and generosity. She was known for her loving spirit, her resourcefulness, and the warmth she brought to all who knew her. Norma had a deep love for crochet and often shared her beautiful creations with family and friends. Earlier in life, she worked as a beautician. She is survived by her spouse, Miguel Zepeta; her children, Arden Aristithis Diamantis, Aristotlis Georgios Diamantis, and Teresa Adrinna Cavazos; her siblings, Doralina Paterno and Dorinda Haldeman; and many extended family members who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arden Dwight Haldeman and Elvira Trevino. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to all who supported them through visits, calls, messages, and social media during this time of loss. Your kindness has brought comfort and strength. Jane Louise Bellinger, 95 of Hempstead, Texas passed away peacefully at home with her family at her side on November 19th, 2025. She was born on October 9th, 1930, in Volney, NY to the late Gordon and Irene Geddes. She and her husband raised their family in Scriba, NY before moving to Houston, Texas in 1978. She was a active member of Oswego Eastern Star for many years. She was predeceased by her husband, Clarence (Skip) Bellinger and her son Craig Bellinger. She is survived by her son’s Gene (Phyllis) Bellinger and Eric (Jeana) Bellinger. She is also survived by her 4 daughters, Connie (Scott) Williams, Lorie (Robert) Ross, April (Horst) Cosgrove and Julie (Robert) Kroeger. Her biggest accomplishment and greatest love was her family. 7 children, 14 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by so many. Con el corazón quebrantado y nuestras almas rotas, nos da profundo dolor aceptar que nuestra amada compañera de vida, madre, suegra, abuela, tía, y amiga, Carmen Rangel Rodriguez, pero cariñosamente mejor conocida como Gueli ha fallecido el 15 de octubre de 2025. No existen palabras para expresar el profundo dolor que sentimos pro el inmenso vacío que nos deja su partida. Gueli nació el 25 de mayo de 1939 en Tierra Nueva, San Luis Potosí, México, hija de Angela Rodriguez y Onésimo Rangel. Desde su niñez, ella era una mujer valiente, fuerte, y llena de vida. Carmen era trabajadora y desde los 6 años ella ayudaba a sus padres a sacar el negocio que tenían de pequeñas golosinas. Como pasaron los años, ella se convertido en sirvienta para seguir ayudando a sus padres a salir adelante. Un día en la espera del ferrocarril hacia su trabajo, se cruzo con su amor eterno como ella le decía, el fallecido Jose Luis Zamora Lugo. Ese día sus vidas cambiarían por siempre pues en ese viaje acordaron reencontrarse de nuevo para formar una vida juntos. Y así fue, al poco tiempo ellos ya en Piedras Negras, Coahuila se casaron un 22 de marzo de 1962 y sucesivamente tuvieron 6 hijos, Laura Veronica, Jose Luis, Sara Gabriela, Sergio Armando, Maria del Rosario† y Heriberto Raymundo†. Carmen y Jose Luis compartieron 25 años. Por el año 1987, Carmen decidió comenzar de nuevo, cruzando fronteras y la vida la trajo a Hempstead, Texas donde residió por 33 años. Carmen era incansable, para ella no había imposibles pues tan era su determinación de superarse que ella trabajaba en lo que pudiera. Ella fue cocinera, procesadora de fierros, pero su trabajo mas preciado siempre fue ser madre y abuela. A Gueli le encantaba pasar tiempo con sus hijos y nietos. Ella siempre cocinándoles porque ella decía que “barriga llena corazón contento”. Cuando no estaba cocinando la podrías encontrar regando y escarbando sus plantas. Adoraba sus jardines llenos de rosales, amores, teresas y asta flores silvestres. Ella era vida pues daba vida a todo lo que ella tocaba. ¡Podías llevarle una maceta con flores completamente muertas y ella las revivía! Sus manos eran sagradas y su voz angelical pues siempre platicaba sus historias de sus antepasados y de su vida y de alguna manera u otra ella sanaba tu alma. Al poco tiempo de llegar a Hempstead, conoció a quien se convertiría en su compañero de vida, Alfonso Juárez por 37 años. Brindándose apoyo, amor, y compañía vivieron felices hasta su último día de vida. Juntos lograron comprar su casita y vivieron muy felices asta diciembre de 2020 cuando por desgracia perdieron todo causando que se fueran a vivir a Prairie View, Texas con su nieta, Cynthia Isela. Y desde ese momento, ya no había fronteras pues se dedicó a viajar y cumplir sus más mínimos deseos. A Gueli le encantaba salir de compras, cuidar de sus plantas, y viajar. Su pregunta de cada día festivo, “Cuando nos vamos, ¿hija?” Ha comenzado su último viaje aquí en la tierra, pero sabemos que su gran vuelo apenas comienza. Le sobreviven su compañero de vida, Alfonso Juárez Enríquez; sus hijas, Laura Zamora y Sara Saucedo y esposo, Ramon Saucedo; sus hijos, José Luis Zamora y esposa, Angelica; su hijo Sergio Zamora; su nuera Sonia Mata viuda de Heriberto Zamora; Juan Herrera viudo de Maria del Rosario Zamora; sus 21 nietos, 62 bisnietos, y 3 tataranietos. Querida Gueli, Dejas un inmenso vacío en nuestros corazones, pero nos dejas un legado tan grandioso e incomparable que seguiremos luchando por honrar. Ten la seguridad de que vivirás por siempre en cada uno de nuestros pensamientos, acciones, y decisiones. Bonnie Louise Levandowski, 84, of Hempstead, Texas, passed away on September 20, 2025. She is preceded in death by her husband Julian James Levandowski; parents John Henry and Edith Louise (Humbird) Melton; father and mother in-law Wallace and Antonia (Springer) Lewandowski; brother Jack Melton; sisters Martha Davenport, and Carol Merryman. Bonnie is survived by her son Frank Levandowski; daughters Dorthy Heintschel and husband Dale, Theresa “Terry” Kalinowsky and husband Jack; and Sandra “Sandy” Lewis and husband Kenny; grandchildren Charlie Heintschel and special friend Heather, Scott Heintschel and wife Meagan, Heidi Surovik and husband Ritchie, Ray Kalinowsky and wife Lisa; great grandchildren Lexi, Bristol, and Haisley Heintschel, Cash and Dylan Hillgartner, Jackson Morey, Keegan Kalinowsky, and Wyatt Southard; sisters Mary Newman and Kathy Rice. Bonnie was born March 21, 1941 in Brazoria, Texas to Henry and Edith Melton. She was the oldest of six siblings. Bonnie graduated from Hempstead High School in 1959. Bonnie married Julian, a classmate from school, on May 21, 1960. A job opportunity for Julian moved the family to Houston for almost 13 years. In 1977, they moved back to Hempstead and built a home in the Pine Island community. Julian died on March 24, 1998. After raising their four children, Bonnie went to work in food services at Waller ISD. Later she became the Food Service Director for Hempstead ISD. After BSA Camp Bovay opened, Bonnie helped prepare many meals for scouters during summer camps. Bonnie was well known for making the best homemade rolls. She served as an election worker at the Town of Pine Island Voting Precinct for many years. Her hobbies included fishing, sewing, quilting, and teaching others. Bonnie enjoyed sewing and was known for the beautiful quilts she made. She spent her life serving others as she enjoyed teaching both children and adults how to sew and quilt. Bonnie has led the Scrappers Quilt Guild since 2006. In the past 20 years, Bonnie and her Scrappers have made over 200 quilts for veterans, over 50 quilts for First Responders, and numerous quilts for cancer patients. Bonnie helped in the Creative Living Building at the county fair teaching the youth how to sew. For several years, she helped 4-H members with designing their quilt layout for the Texas 4-H Round-Up Quilt Challenge. Memorial services (Celebration of Life) are pending at this time and will be held at McWilliams Funeral Home, Hempstead. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice in Bonnie’s memory.

Luis Carlos Flores passed away on June 29, 2025 at the age of 39. He was born on February 26, 1986, to Renato and Francisca Flores in Houston, TX.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents Timoteo Flores and Barbarita Olguin-Flores, grandfather Luciano Medina.
Luis is survived by his wife Juana Gonzalez, daughter Brisa Flores, sons Juan Carlos Flores and Jaziel Flores, father Renato Flores, mother Francisca Flores, sister Juana Flores and husband Juan, Anna Daniela Gaytan and husband Jose, brother Julio Cesar Flores and wife Carmen as well as numerous nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends.

Jerry Wayne Hilligiest, 76, of Hempstead, Texas passed away Friday, June 6, 2025. He was born August 11, 1948, to Benjamin Edward Hilligiest, Sr. and Alma Augusta Mueller Hilligiest. He is preceded in death by his wife Darlene and son Chance. Jerry is survived by his daughter Dana Beth Leasure & husband Red; granddaughter Baylee Tolopka & husband Nick; sister Betty Wofford; sister in-law Lavena Hilligiest; nieces: Shelly Cunningham, Tammy Wulf & husband Richard, and Malinda Preather & husband Daniel; nephews: Jerry “Bubba” Fisher, Clinton Hilligiest, Cory Harget & wife Mary, and Travis Harget; honorary nephew Clayton Gruetzner & wife Kathy; great-niece Stacey Fisher; numerous other relatives, all of his hunting and fishing buddies, and friends from the Eureka & Strokers Bars and the Cochran Store. Delmar Douglas “Doug” Duncan, 84, of Waller, passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at the Tomball Regional Hospital. A graveside service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at the Hempstead Cemetery with Pastor Perry Espinosa of Lighthouse Word Church officiating. Arrangements are by McWilliams Funeral Home. Doug was born in Caldwell, Texas to Lee and Barbara Duncan on April 26, 1941. After high school, Doug enlisted in the US Armed Forces. He was a Vietnam Veteran and served in the US Navy for 4 years as part of the US Navy CBs. He was awarded the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. Once he was released from active duty he transferred to the Naval Reserve at the Naval Reserve Manpower Center, Naval Training Center in Bainbridge, Maryland. Doug is preceded in death by his father, Lee Joe Duncan, his mother, Barbara Mae Cowan Duncan, brother W.C. Duncan, Sister-in-law, Irene Duncan, brother, Roy Duncan and nephew, Kolin Quin. Audrey La Donna Helton was born to Lenita and Audrey Claywell on 11/30/51 in Glasgow, Ky. But she got to Texas as soon as she could at the age of 2 years. She was proud of her Texas heritage – Her maternal ancestors settled in Satsuma, Tx and she grew up in downtown Cypress; graduating from Cy-Fair High School and attended Sam Houston State University. She was baptized, confirmed, and married at St Mark’s Lutheran Church in Houston (Spring Branch). She married Frank Edward Helton on December 12, 1970; and they were married 37 ½ years. She is survived by her 3 children; Courtney Veselka and husband Chris of Schulenburg, Tx; Alicia Koepp and husband Matt of LaVernia, Tx; Slade of Waller, Tx, 4 beautiful grandchildren; Mason & Mattison Koepp; Audrey Grace & Remi Faith Helton. Gary Wayne Nine, 69, of Anderson, Texas passed away on May 1, 2025 at his home. Gary was born April 13,1956 in Crawfordsville, Indiana. Gary graduated from North Montgomery High School in 1974, attended Purdue University, and worked for RR Donnelley in Crawfordsville for years before moving to Houston, Texas in 1993. Gary married his loving wife, Deanna on December 21, 2001. After years in Houston and Montgomery, Texas, they made their home in Anderson, Texas. Gary is survived by his wife, Deanna Leigh Nine; his children, Justin Nine, Mandy Blaich and husband Shawn Blaich, Wendy Noe and husband, Birl Noe; and Eric Nine and wife, Katie; his grandchildren, Mercedes (Cede), Taylor, Aliah, Maci, Colton, Lexi, Katy, Karey, Cameron, Madisyn and Klay; and great grandchildren Chevelle and Ayden. Brother-in-law Jeff Wahlberg, sisters-in-law Judy Wahlberg and Janice Jeffries; niece Jaclyn Wahlberg Combs and husband, Jason Combs; niece Cassie Jeffries and husband, Luke Cunningham, great nephews Rowan Combs, Pierson Combs and Grayson Cunningham. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth Ann Nine and Richard “Dick” Nine. Gary enjoyed traveling, golfing, boating, building things, playing with dogs Gunner, Bently and Roxy, and spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed hanging out with brother-in-law, Jeff, watching sports; cooking in the kitchen (mostly testing the food) with Judy (affectionately known as “wife # 2”) and being the “life of the party and crazy uncle” at niece, Jaclyn’s birthday parties. Gary had a happy, outgoing personality and never met a stranger. He loved spending time with friends. Gary was hopeful for a cure for Alzheimer’s Disease, participating in a trial and donating for research. To celebrate Gary’s life, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Charles C. Ryan, Jr. “Ryan” of Beaumont, Texas overcame dementia on March 3, 2025 when he left his earthly body. He is survived by guardian and special friends LinMarie Garsee and Jesse Gomez as well as sisters Ellen Jenkins (Brandon, MS) and Milly Ryan-Harshman (Oshawa, Ontario), and brother Duffey Ryan (Tallahassee, FL). Maria was born on February 5, 1954 to Maria Guadalaupe and Agustin Banuelos in Fresnillo Zacatecas, where she lived before moving to Texas. Maria is survived by her beloved husband of 30 years, Esteban Rosales; her daughters Veronica and her husband Victor Baez; Esmeralda and her husband Manuel Banuelos. She was an incredible woman who touched so many lives with her kindness, love and unwavering faith. She loved to cook for others and in her free time she would spend time teaching others about the Bible. Maria will be deeply missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be laid to rest through cremation. A service was placed in her honor Sunday January 19,2025 at the Jehovah’s Witness Hall in Waller, Texas. Tina Corn Herrin, 50, of Burton, Texas passed away January 16, 2025. She was born March 29, 1974, in Lawrence County, Ohio to Richard Corn and Deborah VanMeter. Tina is survived by her mother, Deborah VanMeter, her husband of 29 years, BJ Herrin, daughters Hanna and Haeleah Herrin, sister Sara Corn Henson, and many friends, family, and loved ones who will miss her greatly. Tina was a wonderful wife and mother with a huge heart. She gave love and kindness to everyone she met. She had a beautiful soul, and her radiant smile lit up every room she entered. She loved life, especially her family. She had a great love for all of her pets. She loved to watch movies, shop, and travel with her family and friends. She loved going to Galveston and going to Ohio to see family. She loved to go on cruises. Tina’s favorite foods were seafood, BBQ, and the gravy she made on weekends. Tina was smart and would do anything for anyone. She fought hard to stay as long as she did; she really put up the fight. We are so sad that she passed so soon but we know in our hearts she is in no more pain and is not suffering anymore. Tina would always say “it is what it is” that was her motto. Judy Elaine Broadus, 71, of Houston, Texas passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2025. She was born March 9, 1953, in Sealy, Texas and grew up in Brookshire, Texas. Judy is preceded in death by her husband William “Bill” Foster Jackson. Jr., mother Bessie Lee, siblings Russell Eugene and Charlotte Lee, and sister in-law June Jackson. She leaves behind children: Kelly Jackson Zook, William “Jack” Foster Jackson Ill, son in-law Bradford Lee Zook, and grandchildren Justin Taylor Zook and Lauren Nicole Zook. She also leaves behind many people who loved her: best friend, sister in-laws, brother, cousins, nieces, and nephews. She enjoyed rips to the plant stores with her grandchildren, going to the Nutcracker ballet with Justin, birding with her sister in-laws with Lauren as their spotter. She loved her vegetable garden, encouraging the seedlings by telling them how brave they were for breaking through the soil. She could grow anything, and her flower beds were filled with beautiful roses. Judy enjoyed beach trips with her best friend, wine conversations on the back porch with her sister in-law, bossing Jack around to do chores at the house(he can fix anything). Judy’s mother/daughter best friend relationship grew closer with Kelly in her later years and with her illness. Nothing meant more to her than spending time with her family. She worked for many years as a legal secretary in downtown Houston for Larkin Eakin. (Preceded in death) She had the biggest most forgiving heart, wanted everyone to get along and be harmonious. She was the mother figure; she loved being a mom to not only her kids but anyone who needed that extra bit of love and anyone who met her could feel it. She loved babies and animals. If she saw a baby anywhere, she was going to talk to him or her. If she saw a dog she was going to pet it, without asking their owner. The dogs didn’t mind, the owners didn’t either. Judy’s final arrangements were entrusted to McWilliams Funeral Home, Hempstead.

Matthew Jacob Kidd, 54, of Hempstead, Texas passed away Saturday, January 11, 2025. He was born December 18, 1970, in Macon, Georgia to James B. Kidd and Linda D. Ruf Kidd. Matthew is survived by his son Mathias Kidd, daughter Mikayla Kidd, brothers Andrew, James, and Patrick Kidd, and sister Virginia Park.
